Our Journey

With years of experience in language conservation and revitalization, the Northwest American Indian Languages Alliance (NW-AILA) is dedicated to supporting federally recognized tribes in preserving and reclaiming tribal languages in the Northwest. We collaborate with tribes to develop language programs, provide teacher training, and create educational materials to enhance the inter-generational transmission of indigenous languages.

We intend to forge collaborative partnerships with research universities, regional universities, community and technical colleges, and tribally controlled colleges, including but not limited to Northwest Indian College and California Indian Nations College. This initiative stems from the foundational support of the Tribal Leaders Congress on Education, the Suquamish Foundation, and a generous contribution from College Spark Washington. Furthermore, it is within our strategic objectives to collaborate with the President of the United States, underscoring our commitment to enhancing educational opportunities and outcomes.

Our Unique Value Proposition

We offer a holistic approach to language revitalization to collaboratively create sustainable and impactful language preservation solutions that honor and center the vision of each Nation across our region.
