NW-AILA is a tribal-led organization committed to revitalizing tribal languages in the Northwest. We collaborate with federally recognized tribes to support language conservation, revitalization, and educational advancements for tribal students.

NW-AILA began with a vision to see Native languages flourish again, becoming an integral part of homes, schools, and community life. Our founders recognized the urgent need to preserve and reclaim these languages, ensuring their survival and cultural significance.

NW-AILA has served many clients, including federally recognized tribes, language programs, educational institutions, and community organizations. Our expertise and collaborative approach have made us a trusted partner in Tribal language revitalization.

Our Core Values

Guiding principles that drive our work

Honoring Tribal Sovereignty

We honor that tribal languages are at the core of who we are, connecting one generation with the next and transmitting knowledge of our People and place. We collaborate closely with federally recognized tribes supporting efforts to conserve, revitalize, and intergenerationally transmit each tribe’s languages.

Collaboration

We value collaboration and work closely with federally recognized tribes, language experts, educators, and community members to achieve our mission.

Language Diversity

We empower indigenous communities by providing them with the resources, tools, and support needed to reclaim, revitalize, and celebrate their tribal languages.
